Stephen Galvin LTCL BMus BA MMus (Hons.) Dip. Tchg. is an experienced, qualified and registered teacher of vocal technique and style.
Stephen began teaching in 1981 and established his own studio in 1984. He has taught thousands of Aucklanders in many styles, jazz, pop, rock, country, classical, gospel and others. He endorses the Rockschool vocal series supplemented by technical and voice-training resources from internationally-recognised methods [Berklee College, Emil Benke, Seth Riggs and many others], combined with over forty years of local knowledge and studio practice. Stephen leads two bands; The Residentz, and the Stevie G Band. He plays guitar and bass and performs with the Santiago Band Auckland, West City Jazz Orchestra, Parnazz and others. He has performed with the Prohibition Big Band, Auckland Concert Orchestra, in musical theatre, church bands, in countless jazz gigs and manages ABC Studios in Auckland's Parnell for teaching, recording, rehearsals and performance. He also teaches singing, guitar, bass and drums in three Auckland secondary schools. Stephen Galvin holds a Performer's Diploma from Trinity College London, Bachelor of Music and Arts degrees, a Master of Music degree with First Class Honours, and a Diploma in Teaching from the University of Auckland. |
