Where can I get singing lessons in Auckland?

  • Here at our Parnell voice studio we provide high-quality Singing Lessons to students of all ages. Parnell is centrally located and lessons are available by appointment Monday to Friday daytimes, evenings and Saturdays. Studying music is a commitment and while the studio location is important you should also consider what happens between lessons, when you are in your own home. Success in music is about  making music every day, not just at a Singing Lesson.

What is the best way to learn to sing?
  • The best way to learn to sing is to sing every day. Ideally you should have someone to sing with. When you enrol in a course of singing lessons you have the opportunity to study with an expert who knows the process. A teacher can help you with many things including technique, style, emotional support and knowledge.

What can I do to improve my singing voice?
  • One of the best ways to improve your singing voice is to enrol in a course of singing lessons. Each student has different needs. As a beginner you may need to work on the technical aspects of singing. An experienced singer may need to develop knowledge about a particular style, for example, singing in a jazz band is different from singing in a choir, or singing in musical theatre. Advanced singers need to know how to take care of the voice especially when you are recording, rehearsing or performing for hours each day.

What do you do as a vocal coach?
  • A vocal coach is someone who can assist you with preparing music for performance. Coaching is one of the main activities of a singing teacher, although there are many other things a singing teacher needs to do. A coach helps you with knowledge about style, technique, memorising lyrics, singing in tune and with good character. You may also need to have someone to help you go through periods of frustration, or a lack of motivation. A coach is someone who understands your voice and helps you to be the best you can be.
